The Author
David W. Anderson is a lifelong New Orleanian, having spent nearly all of his 64 years in the city — aside from seven years in New York and three years proudly serving in the U.S. Army. He is a veteran, a cancer survivor, and a believer in seven-times-seven chances.
Though never more than an average student, a teacher at De La Salle High School once told him, “David, you’re a talented writer — you just need to dry up a bit.” That moment planted a seed. His debut book, Bank Holiday, fulfills a long-held dream to tell a true New Orleans story of ambition, risk, and redemption.
Professionally, Anderson is a 30-year banker and the original founder behind the vision and formation of First NBC Bank. He worked for a time on the concept alone, building the foundation for what became a major regional institution. He gives special thanks to early believers who provided the seed capital to make it happen: Blake and Lois Jones, Bill and Jane Aaron, Herb and Jane Anderson, the late Honorable Jay Batt, and steadfast friend Christopher Tidmore and Judge Jim McKay, Dr Bradley and Harold Bartholomew.
David has two children: Christine, a senior at St. Mary’s Dominican High School in New Orleans, and Blake, a commercial real estate investor active in both New Orleans and Miami. He is married to Una Anderson, a student at Loyola Law School.
He hosts the podcast Cross Training with David Anderson and is currently working on his second book, OBAAT (One Brick at a Time), a near-future international spy thriller rooted in rising global tensions. The story introduces Colonel James Inerarity Baqué, Ph.D.—a Special Forces veteran and quantum finance expert—whose Creole New Orleans ancestry includes a distant familial connection to Pope Leo. This unlikely lineage adds historical depth to a protagonist navigating the dangerous fault lines of a world on the edge.
